Platform Statement: I would like to continue to enhance the work that has been done through the Region 1 strategic planning process of the Policy Committee. As the president of Michigan ACTE, I was able to lead our board through a similar strategic planning process. I think the work we did as a state has been very beneficial and some of the approaches we took at the state level could be employed at the Region 1 level. The areas of emphasis would be increasing member numbers and engagement, professional development, advocacy, and innovation.
One thing I would do as the Region 1 VP is consider those states in the region that seem to have less involvement. One of the things that I would like to do is find leaders in those states that I could support to build their state association. I know that this will take time to talk to and listen to members at the grassroots level. But, if there are people in the state that can rise up and become a champion for ACTE, Region 1 could grow. I believe sitting as a former state association president, I am well suited to engage state leaders.
