Career Academies Section
The ACTE Career Academies section represents the membership body that is involved in developing and implementing career academies that are career pathway focused. The section provides leadership, advocacy, and professional development experiences that address the unique issues that relate to integrated career academies.
Career academies have become a major part of the high school reform discussion, and ACTE wants to provide a recognized avenue for those interested in career academies to network and share. In joining the career academies section, you will gain access to a robust selection of resources and experiences intentionally designed to support your journey.
Joining the Career Academies Section Means You’ll…
- Learn and collaborate with experts in the field. You’re not alone on this career academy journey. Members have the opportunity to tap into the power of a variety of networks- like Ford NGL, and the Linked Learning Alliance.
- Leverage relationships and resources using tools like our Career Academies Section member guide (coming soon), Ford NGL webinars and resources. You’ll also have access to virtual and in-person experiences to develop and advance your practices- like the Career Academy Track at VISION.
We’re looking forward to collaborating with members on creating an unmatched section experience, deepening member engagement, growing awareness and ultimately transitioning into a Career Academy Division.
About Career Academies Career academies are small schools within existing high schools in which students can learn their academics through the lens of a career in which they may be interested. By engaging with their communities, districts get support in aligning academies to the workforce and economic development needs of a region and employers become co-owners of academies and support teachers in the development and delivery of authentic, real-world projects in which students can develop the attitudes, mindsets, skills and transferable skills necessary to be successful in college, career and life.
