ACTE Announces Georgia Professor at University of Georgia as National Award Finalist
ALEXANDRIA, VA—Today, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Roger Hill, Professor at University of Georgia, as the 2025 ACTE Region II Teacher Educator of the Year. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) educators at the middle, secondary and post-secondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities.
Roger Hill is a distinguished faculty member in the Department of Workforce Education and Instructional Technology at the Mary Frances Early College of Education, University of Georgia. In addition to his primary role, he also serves as the Department Head for Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies Education. Professor Hill and his colleagues have successfully secured numerous STEM-related grants aimed at advancing coding instruction and learning. Notably, he recently completed the NSF-funded STEM+C project, Collective Argumentation Learning and Coding (CALC), which was awarded $2,144,800.
Professor Hill’s research agenda centers on the work attitudes and affective characteristics essential for success in the 21st-century workforce. By integrating this theme into STEM instruction and learning, he advocates for a holistic educational approach that is often lacking but critically needed for preparing students for STEM careers. His impactful work is evidenced by over 2,000 citations of his publications, an h-index of 26, and an i10-index of 38.
Hill is one of four finalists for the 2025 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on December 4, at 7:00 p.m. The Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox. The Army, and Stratasys.
